February 2014 Member of the Month
February 7, 2014
The NCPC February, 2014 Member of the Month is Keri Own with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). Keri’s dedication to working with children and families both with BBBS and NCPC has promoted positive change in our community. Her work has assisted children with making more positive and healthier choices. After entering the BBBS program, the “children are less likely to become delinquent, use alcohol, tobacco or drugs, or drop out of school”. Keri’s work has directly influenced this wonderful change for the children.
Though Keri’s work and the subsequent outcomes with BBBS speaks for itself, it is important to note that Keri has supported NCPC’s mission to prevent substance abuse in our community by providing healthy and positive choices. She has participated in NCPC meetings and planning meetings that serve as a steering committee for several substance free programs in the community. She continues to provide and promote substance free activities for BBBS, such as the upcoming Putting Kids First: mini-golf fundraiser at Old Town (July, 2014).
When asked why BBBS participates with NCPC Keri responds: “We support the efforts of NCPC. Not only do the efforts create a healthier place to live, they also create a more positive, healthy, and encouraging place to raise healthy children. Striving to create a better community for the residents and visitors of [Natrona County] will positively change the habits and future of the youth in our community; changing the futures of the youth for the better forever is what we love to do! We are proud to be a part of NCPC”. We are proud to have Keri and BBBS be a part of NCPC!
Thank you for your service to our community, the children, and Natrona County Prevention Coalition.
