April 2014 Member of the Month
June 1, 2014

The Natrona County Prevention Coalition Member of the Month of June 2014 is Susan Beuttgenback with Parents as Teachers. Susan works with the parents in the community to provide the information support and encouragement needed to help children develop during the crucial early years of life, which is the mission of Parents As Teachers-Wyoming Citizen Review Panel. Services offered are overseen by a Parent Educator, someone who is there to help and support parents. The activities are driven by the parent. Developmental screenings, along with hearing and vision screenings, are provided to help families track their child’s development. All services are provided to participants free of charge. Parents may enroll as early as during pregnancy and as old as 6 months. The child continues the program to the age of 3 years. The services are provided to families of Albany, Fremont, Natrona, or Sweetwater counties.

Parents as Teachers will have a booth at the Father’s Day in the Park event on June 14, 2014, sponsored by Casper Housing Authority. They will also help at Mercer Family Resource Center’s 6th annual Family Day on July 8, 2014.

Susan holds a Nebraska Teaching Certificate for K-6.  While working with at-risk youth during college, she realized the need for early intervention and prevention. Since 1991, Susan has worked with Nebraska Early Childhood programs, such as Even Start, Head Start, Early Head Start, and Childcare Provider Training Coalitions. She also owned and operated The Kid Zone Childcare from 2004-2012, before moving to Wyoming and becoming involved with Parents As Teachers.

Thank you, Susan, for your unwavering dedication to our community and the children in our community. We are glad to have you as a part of NCPC and honored you are the June 2014 Member of the Month.
